Works for me. You've solved the issue of text over a vari-coloured background, adding in an opaque mid-layer.
For the business card, try changing the font size of the "AMS", "Aberdeen Military Systems" and "Defining the future" - the text has less importance as the reader moves down the page, so font size should reflect that.
Minor details. Good work.
I'm still tempted to have AMS be involved in a hostile take-over by Aberdeen Medical Supplies.
